Case Study - Four Directional Sideloader Speeds Handling of Seven Metre Plastic Sheet and Doubles Storage Capacity

 

A Sidetracker multi-direction lift truck used in conjunction with a cantilever racking system is providing quick, convenient handling of 7 metre x 2.1 metre polycarbonate sheet.

The racking system and Sidetracker combination has also halved the floor space that would have been needed for conventional lift trucks, which has in turn reduced travel distances in the warehouse.

The storage and handling system was planned for maximum speed and convenience to enable a next-day delivery service to customers, while using only the Sidetracker for all handling operations.

The design of the truck has allowed aisle widths to be reduced to 3000mm, compared with the nine metres that would have been needed for a conventional counter-balanced model.

The four wheel configuration provides maximum stability and the 4.5 metre fork spread supports the 2 tonne loads with a minimum deflection.

As well as working in the warehouse, the truck is also designed to be used outside the building to load and unload delivery vehicles.
